Shared care prescribing for ADHD

We have been having a lot of queries regarding taking over prescribing medications, particularly for ADHD. We do understand that NHS waits are long, and that patients may opt to go privately, and we further understand these private assessments are expensive. We do have set rules in place for when and under what circumstances we can take over prescribing of ADHD medications, and these are detailed under the prescribing section of our website. Please make sure that anyone you see privately does your height, weight, pulse and blood pressure before starting medication, and at three months – this is not difficult or expensive for them to put in place, but we do not do these on behalf of private doctors as this would be unfair on the NHS teams who do this themselves.
