Non-NHS Services
At Park Road Surgery in Teddington we offer Medical examinations for insurance purposes, sport, private schools elderly drivers’ licences etc. are done at special times. Please check with the receptionists. There is a charge for this service, payable on the day of the examination.
Please let us know if you cannot keep your appointment.
Forms
There is a charge for the completion of forms for private health insurance, holiday cancellations, etc. Forms for completion should be left with reception who will pass them to the doctor. Please do no make an appointment with the doctor for the sole purpose of asking them to complete these forms; in any case the forms would not be completed during the consultation and you would need to return to the Surgery to collect the completed form.
Please note that we do not have the facility to pay at the surgery with credit or debit card. If you need to make a payment to the practice please pay in cash or cheque (made payable to ‘Park Road Surgery’).
Please open file below for a list of our charges.
Medicals for sporting events
The fee for these depends on the requirements on the form, with the lower end being a simple statement that there are no conditions making you unfit to participate and the higher end a requirement for a full physical examination. We are happy to given an indication of cost in advance if you drop the form off with reception. Please note that we do not organise NHS investigations e.g. echocardiograms, exercise ECGs, to facilitate participation in sporting events, so if these are a requirement they will need to be done privately or as below via a charity.
Medical complications arising during sporting events are generally not predictable in advance, with rates of 1-2 per 100,000 participants in marathons and triathlons. If you have a family history, charities like Cardiac Risk in the Young may be able to advise.
Cycling medicals
If you are asked for a medical certificate in relation to a cycling race, we can issue these for a fee as above. However, many events (including the Marmotte) accept a British Racing Licence instead of a medical form. These are also chargeable, but offer annual benefits beyond the race licence which a letter from us does not. With thanks to Tim Stoller, who pointed this out!
Request for letter to school regarding sickness during exams
We have been advised by the BMA that exam boards do not require a letter from a child’s GP, following sickness during exams. In the event that a school requests such a letter then we will send them the reply attached, detailing why it should not be necessary. If you still require a letter to the school to detail sickness absence during your child’s examinations then there will be a charge of £70, as this is outside the remit of NHS work.
