Travel Vaccinations
You are entitled to receive the following vaccinations under the NHS, which might be required for travel purposes.
- Typhoid
- Tetanus/ Diptheria
- Hep A booster
If you need these, please book an appointment with one of our practice nurses.
We are not currently able to offer a full travel health assessment and if you require this then we would advise you to book one with a travel medicine clinic. We can provide you with a print out of your vaccinations to take to your travel health assessment. If you require vaccinations which are not available on the NHS, then we would ask you to get these at the travel medicine clinic.

If you require a full travel medicine assessment at a travel clinic, it is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will sometimes be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccinations are usually kept in stock but may occasionally need to be ordered. Your appointment for any vaccinations required needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
