Carers Connect Evening

Thursday 17th November, 7 – 9pm
Every year, Carers UK brings together carers and organisations from across the UK on Carers Rights Day to raise awareness of the help and support available to those who give unpaid care to a loved one. For many, the term ‘carer’ still holds a lot of stigma. Many parents, partners and family members do not see themselves as a ‘carer’ – their care is simply part of being family. But looking after someone experiencing mental health difficulties comes with a very unique set of challenges and there is a huge amount of support out there to help you.Whether you have been caring for your loved one for a long time or just recently, it’s important that you’re aware of your rights and what practical and financial support you are entitled to. To find out more about National Carer’s Rights Day, visit Carers Rights Day – Carers UK.To promote carers rights, the Carers and Parents in Mind team will be hosting a Carers Connect Evening on Thursday 17th November from 7pm – 9pm at Elleray Hall, Teddington.   The evening will give you the opportunity to meet and connect with other carers, share stories and find respite from the challenges of caring, as well as learn about what help is available.

Guests will receive a complimentary glass of bubbles or a soft drink on arrival, canapés throughout the evening, with guest talks by Jayne Ayris from Adult Social Care (Richmond Council) on Carers Rights, and one of our very own carers about their journey.

This event is open to all carers, parents and partners across Richmond Borough supporting a loved one with poor mental health and is free to attend – you do not need to be registered with Carers in Mind or any other Carers organisation.   Address
